MIMOSA CEO Presents at Canadian Burn Conference

MIMOSA Diagnostics CEO asked to present at the annual meeting of the Canadian Burn Conference. The presentation is entitled "Wound Care and Innovation (Pearls from the CEO) & Use of Technology to Advance Wound Care". Dr Cross will provide insight into the need for technology in the management of persons with wounds. She will provide a unique perspective both as a clinician and an entrepreneur.

Technology is an essential component of wound assessment. Today most assessments is based on visual examination. Making the invisible, visible will greatly enhance the clinical assessment of this patient group.

As a clinician, turned entrepreneur Dr Cross and her team have developed an assessment tool that provides insight into the health of a patients tissue. Early detection of impending tissue compromise can save limbs and lives.

Biography

Dr. Karen Cross is a Surgeon Scientist, Dalhousie University and the Innovator in Residence at the Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA). She provides expertise and assistance to NSHA to advance innovations in medicine and surgery throughout the continuum of care. She is a Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgeon with a specialization in Advanced Tissue Injury & Wound Care. She is the first Surgeon-Entrepreneur at the University of Toronto, a designation she received for her knowledge translation of taking technology from the bench to the bedside. Dr. Cross is the Co-founder and CEO of MIMOSA Diagnostics Inc. Her passion is creating equity within the healthcare system by improving access to care with technology.
